The Red Sox had won four World Series from 1912-18, but then sold star player Babe Ruth to the rival Yankees, ostensibly so owner Harry Frazee could finance the production of a Broadway musical called "No, No, Nanette." Ruth became the home run king and helped the Yankees become a dominant franchise. Meanwhile, the Red Sox didn't win a World Series for 86 years -- suffering though a litany of heartbreaking losses -- before finally breaking through in 2004. That included coming back from a 3-0 deficit against the Yankees in the ALCS, the only time such a comeback has occurred in the MLB postseason.
