Hard-throwing youngster Michael Feliz just the latest example of Astros’ pitching promise

Three days after dazzling in his Class AA debut, hard-throwing righthander Michael Feliz became the Astros’ second 21-year-old pitcher to earn promotion to the majors without ever facing a hitter at Class AAA.

Feliz was called up Friday from Class AA Corpus Christi after starting righthander Scott Feldman was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn medial meniscus on his right knee.

“It means that we’ve got good pitching up and down the organization,” Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said. “We’re obviously not afraid to pull the trigger if we feel it’s somebody who can help regardless of the level they’re at.
