Devenski, the Astros' Pitcher of the Year as a reliever last season, is being stretched into a starter this spring and allowed four runs and two hits in 1 1/3 innings. Francis Martes, the Astros' No. 1 prospect, followed Devenski and gave up two hits and a run in 1 2/3 innings in his Grapefruit League debut.
"I was trying to command all my pitches, and obviously that wasn't there," Devenski said. "I fell behind a lot of hitters right off the bat, and tried to work back in the counts, and got to a lot of 3-2 counts.
