Gold Glove Award winning catcher Roberto Pena, was optioned to Corpus Christi from Fresno yesterday, was 0-for-4 at the plate. Pena certainly made an impact though. Pressed into service at second base, he made three assists and one putout in four total chances, while helping turn one double play. It was the catcher’s 5th career appearance at second. Pena was hitting .226 with four runs scored, a double and five RBIs in 15 games for the Grizzlies, throwing out 28% of runners attempting to steal.
He played exclusively for the Hooks in 2015, batting .237 with 10 doubles, a home run and 22 RBIs in 74 contests.
