Astros outfielder George Springer thought his stuttering impediment was natural. At a young age, he realized that it was more serious.
“It was probably sometime around 9 or 10 that I realized that this is not what you are supposed to do,” said Springer at a charity event for Camp SAY at the Lucky Stripe bowling alley. “But, it’s OK. I was obviously quiet and felt somewhat isolated. However, I understood that I have to go out and have some fun.”
Springer has devoted his free time to being a spokesperson for Camp SAY, which works with children who have speech impediments.
