George Springer has started swinging his regulation bat

For the first time since he suffered a non-displaced fracture on his right wrist when he was hit by a pitch on July 2, Astros right fielder George Springer took swings with his regulation bat Friday.

“It feels good,” he said. “Obviously I got to be smart about it still. I have to build up strength some more, but I’m excited about the progression.”

Springer was cleared to resume baseball on Aug. 14. He started swinging a fungo bat early in the week. Then he hit off a tee and had five swings at balls that were flipped to him Friday.
