George Springer confident in recovery plan, says ‘it could always be worse’

BOSTON — There’s nothing else George Springer can do besides accept his poor fortune, even if he couldn’t be more unhappy. He was contributing at the highest level and something special certainly seems to be blooming in the Astros clubhouse. Now, he might be out until September because of a fractured right wrist.

“It could always be worse,” Springer said at Fenway Park, speaking to the media for the first time since the wrist was broken by an Edinson Volquez fastball Wednesday night. “I’m going to make the best of the situation I’m in right now and just kind of take it one day at a time, but just make sure, you know, that I’m here to support these guys.
