Gattis’ tear continues as Astros prevail in gritty win over Orioles

He has a build for the backwoods and a nose for RBIs.

Even before Astros designated hitter Evan Gattis hit a three-run homer to left in Tuesday’s third inning, he had driven in more runs than any one in the American League from April 26 on. He has 35 RBIs in that span now, in the same number of games.

The colossal shot he hit off Orioles starter Mike Wright was the first of two straight long balls for the Astros in a 5-4 win over the Orioles, a three-pitch span that took the ‘Stros from a 4-1 deficit to a one-run lead that stood until the Astros added one more in the eighth.
