Former Astro Jose Abreu signs with a team in Puerto Rico

Former Houston Astros’ first baseman Jose Abreu has singed a contract with the Senadores de San Juan in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This comes after his release from the Astros after signing a massive 3 year, $53.5 million deal during the 2023 offseason.

Reporter Francys Romero reported this morning that Abreu was “beginning his journey to an MLB comeback in 2025.”

“He will soon report to the Senadores for the winter season, which starts in early November.”
