Alex Bregman, the second overall pick of the Draft, is unsigned. Tucker signed for slightly below the fifth overall Draft slot's value of $4,188,700. The 18-year-old batted .484 with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 29 runs scored in his senior season at H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Fla.
Tucker's older brother, Preston Tucker, was a Houston seventh-round draftee in 2012. The younger Tucker will begin his professional career with the team's Gulf Coast League affiliate. Mike Elias, Houston's director of amateur scouting, looks forward to Tucker proving himself on the field.
"Kyle Tucker was one of the premier bats of this year's Draft class and has the ability to hit in the heart of our lineup in the future," Elias said.
