Outfielder Daz Cameron, the 37th overall pick in the draft, has signed with the Astros, the team announced.
Although no contract figures were announced, several reports have Cameron agreeing to a $4 million bonus.
Cameron, 18, hit .455 with 10 doubles, eight home runs, 17 stolen bases and 32 RBI during his senior year at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy High School in Atlanta, Ga. The right-handed hitting outfielder was Georgia’s 2015 Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year and led his high school baseball team to the state playoffs in all four of his varsity seasons. Daz is the son of Mike Cameron, who played center field in the Majors for 17 years, a career in which he played for eight teams.
