If Dallas Keuchel can follow in the footsteps of the game’s premier southpaw just along the dotted line alone, Astros fans could have reason to be thrilled for a long time.
Clayton Kershaw signed a two-year, $19 million deal with the Dodgers in the 2011-12 offseason, which bought out his first two years of arbitration. In the 2011 season, Kershaw had surpassed three years of service time — just as Keuchel will do this season.
Keuchel and the Astros both could be served very well by finding their own extension, and they’re trying to. Keuchel’s agent, Darek Braunecker of Frontline Athlete Management, and the Astros have discussed a multi-year deal, the pitcher said.
