It took until 9:10 p.m. — three hours after the MLB draft began Monday evening — but Ke’Bryan Hayes is one step closer to fulfilling his dream of playing professional baseball.
The star third baseman, whose father won a World Series with the Yankees, was picked 32nd overall Monday by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“I can’t even describe it. It’s like a weight just flew off of my chest,” said Hayes, who watched every pick up to his at a gathering at his father’s facility in Tomball. “I’m just so blessed and so thankful.
