SEATTLE -- One big inning was all the Astros needed to transform a pitching duel into a rout and a 7-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night at Safeco Field.
The Astros (12-7) sent 11 hitters to the plate in the seventh inning and scored six runs, breaking a 1-1 tie after six innings. The breakaway inning included six hits (with three doubles) and a walk. Houston also scored a run off an error by Seattle right fielder Mitch Haniger.
The rest of the game was all pitching and defense.
