NEW YORK – Astros outfielder Colby Rasmus was ejected in the top of the fifth inning of Wednesday’s 6-2 win over the Yankees after being called out on strikes by plate umpire Sam Holbrook.
According to Twitter users who said they were watching the Yankees’ telecast on YES, Rasmus apparently made an inappropriate gesture with his finger toward the umpire. Rasmus said after the game he made no gesture, but did express his anger.
“I had some words to say because I didn’t agree with it,” Rasmus said. “We’re grinding.”
Manager A.J. Hinch went out to talk to Holbrook.
