For the second time in two years, the Astros have signed an aging first baseman to a three-year contract. And it cost the organization two draft picks and $1 million in international bonus pool money. What could go wrong?
In all seriousness, I really like how Christian Walker fits the Astros on the field. For one, first base won't be a black hole, and he likely won't decline at the rate José Abreu did at the plate. That's worth a win or two by itself. Walker is, after all, entering his age-34 season next year. In contrast, Abreu was entering his age-36 season when he signed two years ago.
