That title…those are words I never thought I’d utter this season.
You see, Chris Carter was everyone’s whipping boy. Especially mine. He was terrible. Horrendous. Attach any negative adjective and it fits Carter’s play on the field from the beginning of the season through August 31st.
Carter ended the month of August with a season triple-slash line of .182/.296/.376 with his OPS at a miniscule .672.
Manager A.J. Hinch gave Carter two off days to start the month and used him as a pinch hitter the next game. He had two at-bats, walking in one of them and striking out in the other.
