Chad Qualls’ career comes full circle with season ending in Arizona

PHOENIX — Finishing this regular season at the Diamondbacks’ Chase Field isn’t a full-circle experience only for manager A.J. Hinch.

Righty Chad Qualls, the eldest member of the Astros at 37, has pitched for eight major league teams. By far, he’s spent the most time with the Astros, pitching in 379 games entering Friday. This the franchise he started with.

That’s why Qualls has always said since re-signing with the team before the 2014 season that he wants to retire in this uniform someday, that Houston is where he wants to continue playing even after his contract ends — which could be as soon as this offseason.
