NEW YORK – As he predicted on the eve of the AL wild-card game against the Yankees, center fielder Carlos Gomez returned to the Astros’ starting lineup Tuesday for the first time since last Wednesday.
Astros manager A.J. Hinch remained with his regular first three batters, leading off with Jose Altuve, followed by George Springer and Carlos Correa. The lefthanded-hitting Colby Rasmus will bat cleanup. Designated hitter Evan Gattis returns to the starting lineup for the first time since last Wednesday, batting fifth.
Gomez, who missed the entire season-ending three-game series against the Diamondbacks over the weekend, will bat sixth.
