With Luis Valbuena playing beats on his smartphone, Carlos Gomez entertained Jose Altuve and Marwin Gonzalez with freestyle rap lyrics in Spanish before batting practice Friday.
Gomez, who was 2-for-22 on the homestand entering Friday night, raps to cope with stress.
“I’ve always messed with music when I’m stressed since I was a little kid,” he said. “I rap or cook when I’m home to deal with stress. That’s what makes me happy.
“It’s freestyle. It’s whatever rhymes. I was just rapping about our team, saying we’re a group of Dominicanos, Venezolanos, Africanos, Americanos, so my whole rap ends in ‘Ano.
