Major League Baseball announced today that Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa has been named American League Rookie of the Month for June.
Correa debuted with the Astros on June 8. He is batting (27x94) with nine doubles, five home runs, 15 RBI, four stolen bases and a .543 slugging percentage in his 21 games in the month. Correa ranks first among A.L. rookies in OPS (.852), doubles, RBI and in slugging percentage for the month. Additionally, he ranked tied for first in home runs and third in hits and in batting average.
Correa is the sixth rookie in team history to be named Rookie of the Month, including more recently Collin McHugh (September 2014) and George Springer (May 2014).
