Blue Jays get to Roberto Hernandez early, often in series-opening win over Astros

TORONTO — Astros righthander Roberto Hernandez didn’t even need to turn back to watch Jose Bautista’s majestic shot to know it was gone. He flinched at the crack bat. The roar of the Rogers Centre crowd told him the rest of the story Friday night.

Bautista drilled a monstrous two-run home run between the second and third decks at Rogers Centre, putting a thunderous exclamation point on the five-run rally that propelled the Blue Jays to a 6-2 victory over the Astros.

“As soon as I saw him hit that ball, I knew it was a home run,” Hernandez said.
