As far as front office job titles goes, Sig Mejdal’s first with the front office was an eye-catcher.
The former NASA and Lockheed Martin employee was the team’s director of decision sciences when he came over from the Cardinals, shortly after general manager Jeff Luhnow’s hiring in 2011.
Everyone wanted to know just what the heck that meant.
As general manager Jeff Luhnow explained it to the Chronicle in 2012, Mejdal was “really someone to oversee the architecture and ongoing operation of all the systems that we’re going to utilize to make better baseball decisions.
