TORONTO – After initially considering giving George Springer a day off during the three-game series against the Blue Jays, Astros manager A.J. Hinch had his regular right fielder back in the lineup for the series finale Sunday afternoon at Rogers Centre against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
Rookie left fielder Preston Tucker, the Astros’ No 3 hitter, was out of the starting lineup for the second time in four games. Tucker is on an 0-for-13 slump.
Springer had his 12-game hitting streak snapped Saturday with an 0-for-4 performance, but he was 1-for-3 with a home run in his career against Dickey heading into Sunday’s game.
