Astros’ George Springer cleared for baseball activities

Astros right fielder George Springer, who has been out since suffering a fractured right wrist July 1, was cleared to resume some baseball activities Friday morning.

“I didn’t really know what to do, to be honest with you,” Springer said. “I prepared myself for no and yes. I got told yes and it was just kind of a relief. It’s obviously been hard these last six weeks to not be able to play out there with these guys. I’m almost there.”

Although he is optimistic about returning by September, Springer stopped short of giving a timeline for his return.
