HOUSTON -- The Astros took 6-foot-7 right-hander Forrest Whitley with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2016 Draft on Thursday. Whitley, who touches 97 mph, is from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio.
Whitley, who has committed to Florida State, was 6-feet tall when he entered high school and grew more than six inches. He also lost 25 pounds for his senior year, but he has a big arm and big potential.
