Hayden Wesneski got his first win today, in part thanks to a start at least good enough for any fifth starter, and in part thanks to some rare run support from the beleaguered Astros offense. The win gave the Astros a series win; it was the first series loss for the Angels all year.
Wesneski survived six innings, allowing three runs, all on solo homers, while striking out 10 Angels. The strikeout total was a career high for Wesnski. He left the game with a 5-3 lead, most of the damage from a three-run homer from Isaac Paredes off Kyle Hendricks in the Astros’ five-run second inning.
