NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Rex Jones retired at the end of the season and Nate Lucero is now on the Dodgers’ major league athletic training staff, marking a changing of the guard on the Astros’ medical team.
The two couldn’t be more highly respected amongst their peers.
Lucero, the Astros’ former head trainer, and assistant trainers Rex Jones and James Ready were named the major league training staff of the year for 2015 by their peers in the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS). That group’s membership voted on the award.
“Nate, Rex and James are so very deserving of this year’s award,” PBATS President Mark O’Neal told the organization’s website.
