Astros righthander Samuel Deduno has been shut down because of hip pain. He will be examined by a hip specialist Monday.
Deduno returned to Minutes Maid Park two days after he struggled during an inning in a rehab outing with Class AAA Fresno.
“I have to wait to see what’s in God’s will,” Deduno said Sunday. “It’s a pain that is there when I throw.”
Deduno was expected to go two innings Friday at Fresno, but he lasted only one while walking four.
“My hip still bothers me,” he said.
