While the city of Houston was experiencing some wild weather on Halloween, the Astros made a pair of moves that brings the 40-man roster total down to 33 players. Sure, not as wild as the thunderstorms in town Wednesday afternoon, but baseball transactions in late October and early November rarely are.
The Astros have declined their club option on catcher Brian McCann and have outrighted right-handed pitcher Jandel Gustave off their 40-man roster. Both McCann and Gustave will become free agents.
Both moves from the Astros are not all that surprising. For one, Brian McCann‘s club option was for $15 million with no buyout.
