Originally reported by Robert Murray of the Athletic and now confirmed by Brian McTaggart, the Astros will place George Springer on the 10-day DL and recall Derek Fisher from AAA.
The move comes after Springer injured his thumb sliding into 2nd base in yesterday’s game. The good news is that McTaggart is reporting the injury as a thumb sprain and not a UCL one, which would have been much worse. The club is expecting him to be out for just a couple of weeks.
George joins Altuve, Correa, Devo, McCann, and McCullers on the DL, though it’s looking likely that Correa could return in the near future.
