On Nov. 6, 1991, Astros first baseman Jeff Bagwell was voted the National League Rookie of the Year, the only Astros player to win the rookie of the year award to this day. He was one vote shy of winning the award unanimously.
The award came in his first full season in the Astros organization after being acquired at the 1990 trade deadline from Boston for Larry Andersen in one of baseball’s all-time most lopsided trades.
