BALTIMORE — There are still some family-style Italian restaurants here Rich Dauer and his wife love.
The entirety of Dauer’s 10-year major league career came with the Orioles. Now the Astros first-base coach, Dauer sat in an empty dugout early Monday at Camden Yards to make some calls.
This was never his home stadium, with 1985 his last year as a major league player. But for Dauer, 62, this city and the Orioles organization remain seminal.
“I love it. I grew up here… as a person I grew up,” said Dauer, who was raised in California.
