ARLINGTON — Carlos Gomez’s MRI revealed a minor strain in his left intercostal muscle that will keep him out of the Rangers series at least, general manager Jeff Luhnow said Monday.
The good news is that compared to other strains to oblique and intercostal muscles (which are along the ribs) the Astros have experienced in the last couple seasons, Gomez’s is not as serious, Luhnow said.
Gomez went for an MRI on Monday in Houston after he was hurt during batting practice Sunday in Anaheim. He’s to be back with the team on Tuesday at Globe Life Park.
