After winning the World Series in 2017, the Astros won a record 103 games in 2018, but fell to the Boston Red Sox in the 2018 ALCS, despite a historically good pitching staff.
As if that was not disappointing enough, next season’s team will not include key members of the championship roster, for example Marwin Gonzalez, Brian McCann, Evan Gattis, Charlie Morton, Lance McCullers, and probably Dallas Keuchel.
But the Astros have made a few additions this hot stove season, adding utility infielder Aledmys Diaz, catcher Robinson Chirinos, and most significantly, All Star outfielder Michael Brantley.
Today’s topic for discussion: Have the Astros done enough to remain competitive with the Boston Red Sox and the apparently improved New York Yankees?
