The Astros offense is frustrating. Probably just about every team’s fan base says that at one time or another. But the Astros’ offense is not only worse than last year, it appears to be trending in the wrong direction. One of the most obvious signs is the team’s deteriorating HR power. HRs and extra base power are one of the most reliable ways for an offense to get into the playoffs.
Sure, a major contributor to the decline in power is the loss of Kyle Tucker. But the outfield depth hasn’t compensated for the missing cog in the offense.
