Back on June 18, the Astros’ postseason odds per FanGraphs bottomed out — for now — around 29.3%. A stark decline from 86.2% before the season even started.
Currently sitting at 57.2%, the Astros still aren’t much better than a coin flip in qualifying for the postseason, at least according to FanGraphs. I mean, that isn’t surprising how this team played for the majority of the season. But winning ten of the past eleven games has certainly helped Houston’s chances. In terms of the AL West race, it also helps that the Mariners had their slump, with a 3-8 record in the last eleven games.
