CINCINNATI — The Astros will likely ink at least one if not more of their remaining unsigned college draft picks ahead of Friday afternoon’s deadline, amateur scouting director Mike Elias said.
No high school picks are expected to sign at this point, and that includes the highest pick who remains unsigned, 22nd-round righthander Cole Sands, who’s headed to Florida State, as well as 35th rounder Kody Clemens, Roger’s son who is committed to the Longhorns.
“We certainly talked to Cole throughout the summer and made our best pitch to him, but he’s pretty set and has been pretty set on going to school ever since the draft,” Elias said.
