The Astros have signed Marwin Gonzalez to a minor-league deal.
On Friday, the Houston Astros announced that the organization had signed utility infielder Marwin Gonzalez to a minor-league contract. The switch-hitter was designated for assignment on August 13 and then released on August 16 by the Boston Red Sox.
Gonzalez slashed .202/.281/.285 with a .567 OPS through 77 games, as his bat is not close to what it once when he was in Houston. The switch-hitter hasn’t had an above average OPS since the 2017 season.
