NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The underdog Astros are no more.
Spring training’s model in 2016, manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday, will be similar to last year’s. He made some changes from the 2014 model, reducing the number of players in big league camp to get the guys who needed reps more opportunities rather than running a prospect showcase.
Maybe what will be most noticeably different in 2016, then, will be the perspective and conversation.
“It’s going to be a big message to our players in the team: It doesn’t automatically get better because the calendar turns and we’ve gotten older and matured over the course of the season,” Hinch said.
