COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The cap worn into the Hall of Fame by the Astros’ first inductee represents the final portion of Craig Biggio’s career and the franchise’s only World Series appearance in 2005.
The red-star hat lasted beyond Biggio’s retirement and through the Drayton McLane era. The 2012 season was the cap’s last before the current uniforms were introduced, coinciding with the team’s switch to the American League for the 2013 season.
Biggio hit .266 with a .338 on-base percentage and .428 slugging percentage, 279 doubles and 139 home runs in his years wearing the hat he’s enshrined with.
