SEATTLE — The Astros have informed several minor league coaches and instructors they will not be returning to the organization, including 2014 interim manager Tom Lawless.
Among those let go were Tri-City manager Ed Romero, High Class A Lancaster pitching coach Don Alexander, pitching advisor Gary Ruby, catching development specialist Jeff Murphy — who was involved with big league camp. Another development specialist, Tim Garland, and Gulf Coast League hitting coach Vinny Lopez and GCL pitching coach Hector Mercado also will not be returning.
General manager Jeff Luhnow confirmed Murphy and Lawless had been let go but no other moves.
