The Astros’ new head athletic trainer is Jeremiah Randall, who comes over from the Pirates and is in a leading role on a big league team for the first time.
A Kansas native, Randall finished his third season on the Pirates in 2015, with the title of major league rehab coordinator and physical therapist. The Pirates’ athletic training staff in 2014 was voted Major League Athletic Training Staff of the Year by the membership of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS).
Randall also spent two seasons with the Dodgers, the first in the minor leagues in 2010 as a rehab coordinator, the second as a major league physical therapist in 2011.
