With the 17th pick in the 2016 MLB First Player Draft, the Houston Astros select Forrest Whitley, RHP out of Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas. At 18 years old, his best pitch is his low 90's fastball. In this past season, Whitley pitched a 9-1 record with an astonishing 0.31 ERA and striking out 126 batters in just 68 innings. So, in other words, he averaged just under 2 K's an INNING! This 6'7" pitcher definitely has an advantage with his length created by his height. So, he will most definitely be able to grab a few extra feet or so and a few extra MPH on his pitches with his slingshot arm.
