Major League baseball announced the playoff shares for it's players today, totaling $69,882,149.26 dollars -- breaking the previous record set in 2012 at $65,363,469.22. The Astros received $2,271,169.85 of that total.
The team issues 53 full shares (worth $36,783.25), 8 1/2 partial shares, and nine cash awards.
The breakdown of what the pool is made of goes as follows: 50 percent of the gate receipts from the wild-card games, 60 percent from the first three games of the ALDS and NLDS, and 60 percent from the first four games of the ALCS, NLCS and World Series.
