The Astros emphasized Wednesday that they consider the breach into their computer database “a very serious matter” and defended the original design of their system.
The team’s comments – through general counsel Giles Kibbe – came after the Cardinals owner and general manager vowed to “get to the bottom” of the FBI’s investigation into whether members of their organization illegally accessed the Astros’ computer database.
“We appreciate the comments of Mr. DeWitt and Mr. Mozeliak,” Kibbe told the Chronicle. “We agree that this type of activity has no place in our game and we will continue assisting the FBI and US Attorney’s office in their investigation.
