HOUSTON -- The Astros made their first roster move of the offseason on Thursday by claiming veteran outfielder Norichika Aoki off waivers from the Mariners.
Aoki, who hits left-handed, batted .283 with four homers and 28 RBIs with a .349 on-base percentage last season in 118 games.
Aoki, who turns 35 in January, was a full-time starter for the Brewers from 2012-13, played in 132 games for the Royals in '14 and spent the '15 season with the Giants, for whom he hit .287.
Brian McTaggart has covered the Astros since 2004, and for MLB.
