Astros changing duties in amateur scouting

The Astros are expanding their scouting operations with two additional regional crosscheckers.

Brad Budzinski and Gavin Dickey are being promoted in the team’s amateur scouting ranks, giving the team six crosscheckers (essentially scouts who oversee other score and corroborate reports in a particular region).

Also, Kris Gross and J.D. Alleva are expanding to a larger territory across the west and east coasts, respectively.

The organization is still without a national cross-checker since Dave Post left a year ago but is instead using a model to get more looks at players that would be taken lower in the draft.
