Catcher Jason Castro took an Ubaldo Jimenez fastball off the outside of his right knee in Monday’s 5-2 Astros win over the Orioles, going down in pain at the plate but managing to stay in the game for a time after testing the knee with some jogging near first base.
Castro has a right knee contusion and is likely out of Tuesday’s lineup, manager A.J. Hinch said, but the expectation is it shouldn’t be too long until his return.
“We’ll see how it feels tomorrow,” Castro said. “Obviously, initially it hurt, and when I started running, it started to loosen up a little bit, and actually squatting on it made it feel better somehow.
