Astros bench coach Trey Hillman said Saturday he has gotten multiple calls and emails alerting him to reports that he is a primary candidate to manage the Yokohama Bay Stars in Japan but said he has not been contacted by that team.
Hillman is under contract for 2016 with the Astros to be their bench coach again after his option was picked up, but said he wouldn’t be close-minded to other opportunities if one officially arises.
“It’s obviously not something that I’m politicking for,” Hillman said of the Bay Stars job. “I’m very happy being a Houston Astro, but if something jumps out I’m not going to snub my nose at it.
